William F. Donaldson

Bill is an award winning architect and artist who lives on the South River, just outside of Annapolis, Maryland with his wife, Judy, and their two cats, Cowgirl and the Bandit. He is a native Annapolitan, having graduated from Annapolis High School. After graduation, Bill went on to major in Architecture at Clemson University. He credits Clemson University (go Tigers), with awakening his love of art.

Bill has worked and exhibited locally in a variety of media including painting, sculpture, photography, printmaking, etching, and jewelry design. Currently, Bill is concentrating on a variety of warm glass techniques including glass-fusion. Bill's pieces range from whimsical ornaments and vases, to beautiful plates, platters and bowls that integrate unique forms, textures, color and light. Bill is also melding his architectural and artistic skills in the design and production of one-of-a-kind sinks, larger glass vessels, and architectural glass panels.

Having recently retired from the practice of architecture, Bill continues to study art. He has taken classes at: Lisa Voigt Studio (Winter Haven, Florida), the Bead and Glass Expo (Las Vegas), Coradetti Glass Studio (Baltimore, Maryland), and Thames Glass (Newport, Rhode Island). Most recently, Bill has studied with Richard Parrish, Nathan Sandburg, Judith Conway and Kevin O'Toole at Vitrum Studio in Beltsville, Maryland.

Bill's work can currently be found at Local By Design on Main Street in Annapolis. Bill's work has been carried by several local shops and restaurants: Due East in Easton, Maryland, the Beach House in Newport, Rhode Island, and Maria's Paper Place, Severn Inn and the Smoke House Restaurant, all in Annapolis, Maryland. Bill's wall hanging "Sea Grasses" was awarded first place at the 2014 Annapolis Arts Alliance juried show at the Maritime Museum. Bill was also the featured artist at the 5th Anniversary of the Gateway Arts Center in Prince George's County, Maryland. His work has been accepted into juried shows at the Queen Anne's County Arts Show in Centerville, Maryland, the Whimsy Art Gallery in Annapolis, Maryland, and the River Gallery in Galesville, Maryland. Bill is currently a member of the Board of the Annapolis Arts Alliance and a member of the National Capital Art Glass Guild.
